A Brief Summary:
In 1944, just days after the liberation of Paris, Charles Jackson sees something horrific: a man in a dark tunnel, apparently drinking the blood of a murdered woman. Terrified, he does nothing, telling himself afterward that worse tragedies happen during war.
Seven years later he returns to the city—and sees the same man dining in the company of a fascinating, beautiful young woman. When they leave the restaurant, Charles decides to follow .
This book proves that Sedgwick can effectively apply his great talent in writing to adult mysteries…
The book is written from the first person point of view (the hero – Charles) and is very easy to read. In fact we read this title in one sitting: The story’s plot is very intriguing and the reader constantly wonders what will happen next. We liked the clean and elegant style of Sedgwick and hope to see more of his work. This book appeals to the fans of historical mystery and Sherlock Holmes type stories.
