Nicole Kidman & Amazon Announce “My Lovely Wife” Suspense Film
Amazon Studios, in partnership with Nicole Kidman’s Blossom Films, are planning a new suspense film project based on Samantha Downing’s international bestseller My Lovely Wife. This news was first reported by Deadline.
My Lovely Wife took shape after Downing heard about a married couple who kidnapped and held a young woman captive for years. The wife, abused by her husband, was forced into helping. Downing thought: Women never do this to other women.
But what if they did? Enter Millicent, a real estate agent living with her husband and two children in a gilded suburb of Central Florida. When Millicent and her husband commit their first murder, it’s accidental. But they are surprised to discover how the shared secret injects new life into their relationship. By the time the second woman goes missing, nothing is accidental.
Per Deadline, Kidman’s Blossom Films is a leading generator of female-driven fare, including the Emmy-winning Big Little Lies. My Lovely Wife is an international bestseller published in 23 countries, and is a Best First Novel nominee for the 2020 Edgar Award, considered the top prize for crime fiction; it is set to release in paperback tomorrow, March 3.
Samantha Downing’s next book is called He Started It and will be released in April 2020. In He Started It, Beth, Portia, and Eddie Morgan haven’t all been together in years. And for very good reasons—we’ll get to those later.
But when their wealthy grandfather dies and leaves a cryptic final message in his wake, the siblings and their respective partners must come together for a cross-country road trip to fulfill his final wish and—more importantly—secure their inheritance.
But time with your family can be tough. It is for everyone.
It’s even harder when you’re all keeping secrets and trying to forget a memory, a missing person, an act of revenge, the man in the black truck who won’t stop following your car—and especially when at least one of you is a killer and there’s a body in the trunk.
Just to name a few reasons. But money is a powerful motivator. It is for everyone.
