Broken Trust is the riveting thirteenth installment in the New York Times bestselling Badge of Honor police procedural series by W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth.
If you have not read any prior book from this series, let us assure you: They are very entertaining titles! The series is often compared to Ed McBain’s iconic 87th Precinct novels for its multiple point-of-view portraits of police department life.
A Brief Summary:
Having investigated his share of gruesome murders, Philadelphia Homicide Sergeant Matt Payne is beginning to think nothing can shock him – until the case of a young socialite’s death lands on his desk. The Camilla Rose Morgan he’d known as a teenager was beautiful and brilliant – how was it possible she’d jumped to her death from her own balcony? Her brother tells Payne she’d tragically been battling a lifetime of mental demons, and there is plenty of evidence of it, but still…something just doesn’t sit right. The more Payne digs, the more complications he discovers. Reputations are on the line here, and lives – and if Payne doesn’t tread carefully, one of them may be his own.
For this police procedural series, we recommend you to read some of the older installments in the series first to get a better picture although if you read the book on its own, you will be fine.
While we felt that the series was much more exciting and higher quality in the beginning (a sentiment we share with many fans), this is a very entertaining title, with great twists and leave the door open for continuation of the series.
So, what we can assure you is that you will get intrigued by the plot and can finish the title in one weekend thanks to the easy way the book has been written.
Our Rating: 3.7
