    I don’t think the book was good. Interesting maybe as to the historical period but the characters ugly and clichéed in a Zola-esque way. Many incoherences in describing both petsons and actions. Lots and lots of cold smiles, cold eyes, rain…in fact not once there is any good person or normal person appearing in the whole book. The psychology of the characters simplistic and lacking in coherence.
